MATT GATTO

Project Manager

Matt began working with Bob 12 years ago, when the company was first formed, and was part of the team for several years prior to the transformation from Shelton Masonry to Shelton Design/Build. Over the years, he has worked his way up through the ranks, beginning as a carpenter before becoming a lead carpenter and field superintendent, and ultimately stepping into his current role as Project Manager.

A Pittsburgh native born into generations of tradesworkers, Matt has always had a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship and character of historic homes throughout the Northeast. He approaches the process of working within these spaces with a great deal of respect and care. There is something truly humbling about opening a wall that no one has seen inside for a hundred years and discovering the marks left behind by the builders who came before us.

Matt holds an undergraduate degree in Theatrical Stage and Lighting Design from Slippery Rock University. Combined with years of experience producing fine art and craft, his background gives him a uniquely creative perspective on every project. He approaches each challenge with an artist’s eye and a craftsman’s understanding, with a focus on finding thoughtful, out-of-the-box solutions.

Above all, Matt believes that working in someone’s home is a privilege. He understands that a home is more than a structure—it is a deeply personal and meaningful space. He brings that perspective to every project, with genuine respect for the client, their home, and the trust they place in the team to care for both. His goal is to create work that honors the character of the space while thoughtfully shaping it for the people who call it home.
