Bob Shelton, AIA
Principal Architect / President
Bob Shelton founded Shelton Design / Build in 2014 with the desire to develop a unique firm for our region. He imagined a firm that could be Architect-led but centered around collaboration across many disciplines.
Having been raised amongst a family of tradesmen, Bob's approach to practice applies the Master Builder approach. He has assembled a team of skilled individuals that enhance each others disciplines, to create refined, elevated, and design-forward spaces. While there is no singular style to Shelton projects, Bob ensures the work applies solid design principles within the context and challenges that each project presents.
Over his 20 year career, Bob has worked for large architectural firms such as Perkins Eastman, but also with small firms, contractors, and developers. He has been involved in projects ranging from $1,000 to $250M in value between the residential, retail, hospitality, and senior living typologies.
Bob is a Registered Architect in Pennsylvania and Texas. He was prepared for the industry with education at Kent State University, where he received a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Architecture. Bob has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Architecture and Interior Design at Kent State University and Chatham University.
Bob is currently on the Board of Directors of AIA Pittsburgh. He is also the Zoning Hearing Board Chair in Ben Avon Borough, where he resides with his wife and two children.
